Default 'The Universe' on History Channel

did anyone watch 'The Universe' tonight on the History channel??

it was about Deep Space Disasters, anyway, it was showing one shot of
a spaceship from the underside and that when i about crapped my pants!
the ship was a Hawk, and it was pretty wild seeing it on a show on the
prestigous History channel.
it was only shown for a few seconds but it was shown a few different times.

just kind of cool and wanted to see if anyone else noticed it??

oh sorry, it was a CGI shot they had made up. and the three engines were generating smoke like they were burning rocket fuel on a lift off.

Default Hawk on Discovery

I only saw the two side rockets putting out smoke from the liftoff. Did it even have a main engine?

Thanks for the heads-up! I've been a fan of The Universe since it first began! I missed the first fifteen minutes of the season premiere the other night but tonight I taped the re-run on my VCR. It was very cool to see the Hawk again albeit digitally. There must be a Space: 1999 fan on the show's staff no doubt. Unfortunately, I have no way of transferring the screen image to my computer.

Incidentally, the Japanese fellow towards the beginning of the show is Dr. Michio Kaku, formerly a college professor of mine long ago who has written many books on theoretical physics and appeared on many types of these scientific shows since time immemorial! He's a very interesting person to hear talk!

For those of you who missed seeing the CGI Hawk that appeared on The Universe just recently, here are the screencaps:
  • The Hawk appears at about 3:55 on this video clip:
  • The Hawk appears at about 4:15 and 4:47 on this video clip:

I missed this thread at the time it was posted, but I happened to catch a re-run of the episode (I've only recently started watching the series) a few weeks ago, and had the same sort of reaction. I thought it looked like a stylized Hawk, albeit launched vertically, and somewhat undetailed (though I thought it had both the side engines and main engine), but the shape still just shouted Hawk. The clips were so quick, though, and I didn't have it recorded, so it was difficult for me to be sure. I finally remembered to check here, and sure enough...!
