Default Kano in "The Full Circle"

It's always struck me as strange that of all times to take Kano to a planet it was decided to bring him along to Retha.

I was watching this episode this morning on my way into work and I just can't figure out what Kano offered the S&R effort.

I like him in 'Full Circle'. Pity he wasn't given more to do elsewhere, he could have been a great character, adding a touch more comic relief - he's OK with computers but not so comfortable with people. Love that line about back seat drivers - what a grouch!

Can't decide whether the director was trying to do a comedy episode...?

Agreed. Not one of my favourites and poor Alan does keep getting shot.

Ditto. And I seriously considered skipping TFC for that reason, but I'm watching all of the episodes in production order (good with the bad - which I do periodically) so I felt compelled to watch it. ...Although I did skip over Helena's shock treatment in GOP.

And I do like Kano in this episode, and I'm glad we get to see him off-base, but of all the missions to go on a search and rescue seems like last thing Kano would be picked for... unless he was going in to rescue Flynn from the game grid.

There's something about Kano that reminds me of a kid (and not just in this episode). His line, "We've got lights!" sounds like something my son would say.

Alright, time to be the voice of the honorable opposition here. I rather like 'Full Circle' in a cheesy, popcorn-throwing kind of way. It is good to see characters other than the 'big three' have a small moment in the sun, as it were. I'll take FC any day over 'Missing Link' or 'The Last Enemy'. Those two just don't do a thing for me.

Maybe there's an untelevised scene where Kano is ordered to go down to Retha to get a break from computer...

I enjoy aspects of The Full Circle, but I'd rather watch Missing Link (Peter Cushing ) or The Last Enemy (Space Chicks with big ships ).

Not to say that Missing Link or The Last Enemy don't have their laps in logic, but The Full Circle just feels like a Season 2 episode (IMO). It has Maya Mist (Alphans not only change into cave men, but their clothes change and their technology disappears), and the transformed Alphans create cave paintings and have established complex rituals in a dramatically short period of time.

I'd certainly put them away from anything vulnerable - and probably underground for safety

Season1 has a plethora of great camera shots, angles and lighting. It make a pedestrian episode into something interesting.

Yes, but there's only so much you can do with the colour 'beige'.

Season 2 didn't need as much angles and lighting - the orange puffa jackets stood out as they were !

season one had many pro angle camera lighting and effects, work that stays in my mind even now, never mind the amazing ambient incidental music within each episode, no wonder ive liked so many chilled out sounds over the years music in troubled spirit comes to mind in my glastonbury years
