Does anyone remember seeing the Landau's being interviewed by Sally James on the LWT "Saturday Scene" childrens programme back in '77 ?, it was one of the ITV networks many attempts to copy the beebs sucess with Multi coloured swap shop on at the same time.
Space was being shown as part of this strands programming. They were interviewed part way through LWT's first run of Space's 2nd season in the graveyard slot of 11:30 saturday mornings, there was a competition involved with the prize being an original Alpha Laser rifle prop. Does this footage still exist anywhere and I wonder if the lucky winner still has his prize ? |

Cant find that interview anywhere, want to see it to see what saturday Scene was like and if SJ was in leather (mmmmmmmmm
Ta Claire I don't remember Saturday Scene at all. I do remember watching Space 1999 on a Saturday Morning just before "World of Sport" with the now legendary Dickie Davies. Or was it Wrestling ? My mother wrote in to Swap Shop telling Beardy Edmonds that I always watched the show in my Pyjamas and asked him to shout at me to get dressed which to my horror one morning he did ! |

Yep! I remember that and did have 'somewhere' an audio recording of it. As I recall there was also an Alphan Medical kit given away too as sort of a prize for the boys and one for girls. This was around the time they were running repeats of PLANET OF THE APES on SATURDAY SCENE or immediately after too. Same sort of time period I think. Biggest memory was Sally James meeting Adam West on SATURDAY SCENE a year or so before. He had the full outfit on too. Great days but agreed this was a bit of a dead slot for SPACE:1999 in the London area.

Nope. We didn't get that here in America. But I did see Giligan's Island and the Harlem Globetrotters. Both Martin Landau and Barbara Bain guested. Does that count...?

Multi coloured swap shop brings back great memories - very much the 'ebay' of the 1970's. How times change - with the ease of internet shopping nowadays,a programme like that would now be totally irrelevant.
