Default 1:12 scale Moon Buggy

Hi all,

I'm currently building a large scale Moon Buggy.
I've based it on the one which is in scale with the 44'' Eagle - but twice as large.

It measures around 235mm long (9.25'') x 150mm wide (6'').
The materials I'm using are resin model board, Perspex and styrene .

Question, does anyone know the reference for the yellow?

The markings / graphics I'm thinking of using are based on the photographs on the Catacombs web site of the real Buggy after Alton Towers sold it.

Once finished my intention is to fill the cargo space with the standard Alpha tool boxes and those peculiar angled storage boxes.

I may decide to produce this as a kit if anyone is interested.

Progress photographs can be seen at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/3490698...n/photostream/

Phil

Must agree Phil, this looks amazing. Don't know why such good stuff is coming out now that I can't afford it!

Hope you sell many, I'm sure there are people on this board who are currently building an 88"er who would really love a buggy in scale with it. I know I'd love one just on it's own.

Hi,
Thought I'd keep you up to date with my progress.

I've now modified the dashboard to the correct shape and done all the necessary filling and priming to the body.

Cleaning up the tyres has taken quite a while - I'd not glued down some of the styrene strips as carefully as I should have.
Consequently when they were primed there were quite a few gaps that needed filling.

As I'm going to be taking rubber mould's from the components I should have done it at this stage, but my enthusiasm got the better of me yesterday and I decided to give it a basic coat of paint instead.
With all that yellow it definitely stands out on the shelf.

The striping was just another test - which I also got carried away.

During last week I produced the artwork - numbers for the sides, the multicoloured logo on the front and rear and the dashboard using CorelDraw.
The artwork will be turned into home made waterslide transfers.

If you click the link you will see it painted up.

I'm now going to strip it down and produce the mould's.

Hopefully will have this done during the week.
Phil

Nothing like throwing a bit of paint around to see what it looks like. Rude word, I'd love to see you painting it up as a finished model That looks fantastic. How much do you think a kit might work out to be?
