Default Studio Scale TB1 – Help…

My nephew has recently fallen in love with Thunderbirds – what a smart lad – and it set me off thinking again about a project that I’ve been considering for years: making a replica, studio-sized replica of Thunderbird 1.

The version I have in mind is the original split fuselage version – the one that some people don’t like but which I think is the most iconic. To the best of my knowledge no accurate replica has been made, which makes me want to do it even more.

Does anyone have any really good images of that version of TB1 they could post here? Also, is there anyone who could explain the paint job on the model? It appears to have been painted three times…

Once in a high gloss silver with the ‘T’ of Thunderbird 1 on its underside on the nosecone [as seen in Trapped in the Sky], once in a duller silver-grey with the TB1 insignia in front of the wings above the seam, and once with it below. I think I’m right in saying that all three versions had ‘Thunderbird 1’ running down the underside of the fuselage.

All help much appreciated.

Cheers

Anthony

No, work on it is postponed until weather improves have to spray paint out in the garden as my flat is very small, plus it dries quicker. i saw another one posted here recently built by the new guy that has the 44" eagle, if i can find the post i'll link it, I'm fairly certain it's the same A&b kit

Anthony - have you seen this thread from last year? - there's some useful info about the studio scale launch version of TB1 - http://www.eagletransporter.com/foru...ght=tb1+hangar

It's also my favourite version of TB1 & I'm hoping to build it at studio scale some day ... (even bought 2 periscopes last year on ebay!) In the meantime, I'm practising by modifying the comet vacform TB1 to look like this version. Nearly done - will upload some photos soonly!
