Default PE23 Cockpit lighting

Apologies if this has already been covered in a previous thread, I've recently acquired my 1st PE23" Eagle (YAY!!) and i am contemplating adding a cockpit lighting effect.

I was wondering if anyone else has already tried this and what suggestions people have. I would prefer to avoid any major/permanent modifications to the model itself.

My initial though is a yellow LED that can be mounted inside the detatchable nosecone and switched on and off by removing the nosecone. Does anyone know if repeatedly removing and replacing this is likely to cause any strain or damage to the model? (Sorry is this is a stupid question but I am very protective of my new baby )

Often wondered why they painted the inside black though instead of yellow/orange!

Yes it's a shame they didn't pay a little more attention to the interior detail of the cockpit, having taken the trouble to include the pilots it would have been a nice touch.

1st??? Well... we all live in hope. Seeing as there is to be a rescue pod version on the PE23 eagle I can't help wondering if we will be seeing other varients too? I hope for my credit card's sake not but who knows???

Though I'd like other variations of the PE23, I suspect the Rescue one will be the only one we get as all thats required is a different paint job. I have the original and i'm mighty tempted to get the new one too. Just that its a helluva lot of money.

Now that I have a 23 inch Eagle myself, I think it would be cool to do something like this as well. Has anyone else attempted this?

I have not done a lighting kits in many, many, many years. So if someone has some simple directions and a simple parts list, I might be able to do something like this.

Anyone have experience or suggestions here?

They probably painted the inside black to match the studio models. The studio models appear to be painted black to make the CM's light tight. Wasn't the PE 23" originally going to be lit? Didn't they dropp the idea because of cost? I imagine the black interior is a remnant from that now deleted feature.

From what I have read, the CM was indeed originally going to be lit. That is one of the things which made me think about doing it. Too bad there is not an existing add on kit for this sort of thing.

As to the black, even without lighting, I bet it is to make the orange suited astronauts stand out. At this scale orange on orange would likely blend too much and be bland.
