Default UFO movie reboot due 2011? SKYDIVER?

Should the original SKYDIVER design be reused, as is, in the new reboot[/color] UFO movie due out in 2011?

Remember the THUNDERBIRDS 2004 movie reboot, new production designs of the THUNDERBIRDS...disappointing changes!

Let us hope that SHADO HQ CONTROL still under HS Movie Studios?

Personally I would like to see some minor changes - make Sky a variable geometry [swing] wing aircraft with enclosed missile bays, maybe have some form of armament on the diver section in case those pesky UFO's manage to get into the water, possibly including some short range sea/air missiles in case they get shot at from above the water - but they MUST keep the basic design.

No sneaky having the bridge like a trendy wine bar, and the engine room look like the Victorian version of the "Nautilus".

Oh, and they must not change the uniforms at all!

You all know its going to suck, whatever they do. Thinking this way will stop me from being disapointed, loll.

Surely they must get rid of the illogical idea of the interceptors only having one missile ?

Of course all the designs will be different and the cast will look like they just stepped out of a fashion shoot with cool shades and one shoulder presented heroically to camera.

I'm not so sure about this.

I know a lot of people have a problem with the old 'only one missile' thing, but I always liked the idea that the Interceptors were basically just a launch platform for a single nuclear warhead. Sure it doesn't make that much sense tactically I suppose but I like the slight air of emergency it has about it. Like they had to come up with a design quick and just went for the basics. Also, aren't the three indentations in front of the cockpit supposed to be cannons? so it's not the only armament they carry.

...and if you think about it, the first nuclear bombers in history only carried one bomb each.

I always wondered why skydiver didn't have torpedos? There were several underwater scenes, where they were sitting ducks after sky1 launched!
And yet the "all knowing" aliens never took advantage...
An all female crew would be nice, I'm sure those mesh shirts are still available!

I've seen Eric Chu's updated concepts for all of the S.H.A.D.O.vehicles and machines
as well as the UFO itself.I am hardly impressed with what he had designed.

People keep making this mistake.

Eric Chu is not ivolved with the UFO movie, so you should ignore his concept drawings or recognise them for what they are (just his vision).

Also, speaking as a fan of Fringe, Joshua Jackson is not a bad choice.

Default UFO New redesigns....

Hi Workshop Artist,

Did you mean this?

http://www.cinemaspy.com/article.php?id=2584

Check it out guys, interesting stuff and I thought I would add a few things, how about a little contest to redesign the vehicles and machinery ? If you think you could do a better job then post a sketch or concept model.

Regards.

Yes, there was some discussion of Chu's efforts on an earlier thread, but I wouldn't worry; they weren't from the new movie, they were a stand-alone extrapolation.

Hollywood, huh? Hmm...Beverly Hills 90-UFO. Keannu should be just great in a blond wig. Lots of teenagers and things zipping around to shaky camera work. Gonna be wonderful.

Saddly, you are probably right. I don't know why we are stuck in remake mode these days. IF you want to take an old idea that worked before, why not take the story forward in time. Maybe we could now see UFO as a second series had been planned, an Alpha like complex but armed to the teeth.
All this talk up updating the show and vehicles is silly. Why mess with something that was so perfect to begin with? All I can see doing is updating the computers and such, and then maybe making sure the interceptors have more than one way to defend themselves, such as by the gun ports already present in the design.
So often these updates try to be too "now", and then are much quickly dated tahn the original.
Someone please stop the madness!

I really think UFO could be the basis for a great movie (series), I just hope they do a good job.

The choice of director, Matthew Gratzner makes me really nervouse.

http://www.matthewgratzner.com/Site_3/home.html

I can't remember the last time I saw a good first movie come for someone that has a background in special effects, maybe James Cameron (Terminator) or Douglas Trumbull (Silent Running)

On a side note I found this interview with Matthew Gratzner in which he talks about the Betty from Alien Reserection.

http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/2872...urrection.html

Also the writers are a totol unknown (Ryan Gaudet & Joseph Kanarek). I can't find anything on either of them.

I guess I'll wait and see (and hope for the best).

Yes, the casting of all the characters will tell the tale of this UFO 2011 motion picture reboot
