Sounds interesting. Will it fly? Or is it more of an experiment? Just curious, as I have no idea how those radio control jobs work.

Thumbs up Test flight....

Have you tried a glide test?

A big part of making a flying model from an unorthodox design is finding the Centre of Gravity. Test flying the rough model you have made will give you some clue of overall performance. If it glides it will work as a radio controlled model.

This is going to be interesting, good luck with the effort.

mk2 test vehicle flown.

i altered the rear to be more like the actual plane.
bit of weight on the nose and she glides 20 to 30 ft from a hand launch.

Thats great, but on the whole this is a forum that prefers everything to struggle to land because it has a bomb onboard and then explode on impact. lol

The build begins.

started on the lower front section of the fuselage today.
first 3 formers cut out and glued in place.
i have had to design a staggered joint so i can make the fuselage in 2 halves as 3' long balsa is not long enough. he he.

Bit more done today.

cut and made the rear section of the lower fuselage.
joined the 2 sections together.
138cm long, so not huge.
i need to plank the rest tomorrow, then i can turn it over and start on the wings..
i plan to fit the wings and then build the top half of the fuselage with the wings in situe.
fingers crossed.

Wow! I thought you were just making a replica, but this is going to be a flying model? (Or even just a glider?)

i hope to power it with 2 electric ducted fan motors in the engine pods.

i'm still having problems working out how to do the rear undercarrige, the folding wing tips will be not the easiest thing to do.
mind you i could just fit retractable legs into the pods on the wing tips and not bother having the wing tips fold down, be easier

i got a bit more done today, this is the lower half of the fuselage nearing completion.
just got the sides to do and i can start on the wings.
i need to rub it down and try to shape it a nit more yet.
still the fireflash mk1 is underway.
