He returned briefly to pick up Michael Jackson in a flying saucer before going back to their home planet Silly. Everyone knows that.

You know, I can imagine the Moonwalkers feeling tremendously nostalgic about seeing those photos. It must be like going back to your old school or revisting the place you grew up in. It reaffirms that it all really happened. I wonder if many of them ever expected to see the places again. It must seem dream like after all these years.

Come to think of it, can you see a great story where a bunch of those wackos are so sure of themselves they mount a lunar voyage to disprove man can't go there?

They have got to be the lamest photos.
You can't actually see anything.
Do you think they photos prove anything?
Where's the close ups?
If satellites here can see into my back garden and see every chair and even the decking shadows, then what the hell are these photos all about?

To be honest, they could be any robotic Moon vehicle.
No definition at all.
Conspiracy theorists will jump on those pics with glee.
They are useless.

Why are you lot congratulating them on terrible photos.
There are no excuses for poor images like that.
Not in this day and age.

They can't. The close up Google images of the ground you see are taken from high altitude aircraft sequenced in as you rack up the zoom. A good quality satellite image can't resolve better than two metres square and most can't even manage ten metres square. Hollywood would have you think they can read your newspaper from space but it's all bunk. The Lunar Orbitor images are excellent by comparison and they have the advantage of no obscuring atmosphere to deal with.

Plusthey are "quick and dirty" images for release at the anniversary.

Once LRO gets to the proper orbit for mapping. the photos will be two or three times that resolution. If the photos were colour instead of black and white (no need for a colour camera to photograph what is essentially grey), I would imagine the gold mylar would stand out more.

The Apollo 14 one even shows the scuffed up dust from the astronauts walking around - what more can you ask for?

They are hoping to image the Lunokhods as well.

I use Google Earth pictures to monitor nuclear missile,ABM,submarine and testing sites. The quality is excellent. Sometimes you get lucky when a sub comes into port or watching a NK missile being assembled.

You need the Earth coordinates though. Places like Vladivostok have the missile submarines inside the mountain but you can usually find the entry and exit way into the mountain.
