It's not one of my subjects but I believe taking HD grabs from Blu-ray is more involved than standard DVD. Blu-ray is an antipiracy format designed to prevent taking grabs and copying generally without a lot of faffing around and code writing. No doubt software to make the job easier is only a short way away unless anyone knows otherwise. One guy took the time to capture some images from 2001 from the Blu-Ray disk but that's the only one I know of. The Catacombs has some comparisons between the old DVD and the HD transfers of Space 1999 but that might be from the test HD broadcasts ITV put out in certain TV regions. Martin could probably tell you more.

PowerDVD and MPCHomecinema can grab frames off anything (Bluray, Matroska and .ts in 'File mode' (with AnyDVD running in the background). I've got all Thunderbirds, ten episodes of UFO and two Space1999 in HD

Stick this search in Google...

Screen grabs from Blu-ray

..... and you'll understand the problems.

You basically have to rip the disk and search out individual files. Seems the copyright people are being hot on open talk on forums about how to to do it. If anyone knows, I'd suggest going via PM.

Power DVD Ultra have been forced to remove the Blu-ray screen capture facility from their software. You might be lucky and have an early version. Can't vouch for any others as I'm not familiar with them. I assume your two Space 1999 episodes in HD were from terrestrial broadcast? This is not Blu-ray protected.

Yes War Games and Black Sun - There's nothing to stop a Bluray release really - the hard bit's been done

Once the Blu-ray disks of 1999 come out, I guarantee I'll be on the case.

I found this link, but as I use a Mac and have no access to Blu-Ray DVD, I don't know whether it works or not:

pretty much the same really, when the fire engines are stationary would be best. I dont want to be a pain and say lots, if you dont want to upload them to your photobucket or whatever, I could give you the login to one of mine.

thanks

If you need any specific HD frames of anything - Try to describe it or show me a DVD grab and I'll do my best
