Found a trailer this morning. Looks interesting although I wonder why in the future they can master space flight and other high tech goodness yet not be able to fix the main guys legs??

Well, for my part, I saw the trailer on internet, thus in 2D, and I did not find it overwelming...will the 3D do the magix when it come out?

I'm more into District 9 for now, which seems to be the good surprise this summer in USA for a SciFi movie, and might have some success over here in Europe next month.

shadopilot,

That trailer didn't work over here (for legal reasons, I guess) but this one does:

http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/avatar/

Is it the same trailer? Visually it looks quite stunning, and I will certainly see the movie.

A really stupid question... sometimes CGI work is called "3D", just because it's created i a virtual 3D environment, even though it's 2D on the screen. Do they mean that, or is this movie 3D with polarizing glasses in the theatre?

(yes I know even with glasses it's still not literally 3D... )

It will be displayed in many theater in 3D with glasses, yes..and many people said it looks better like that...for me, to see it flat did not impressed me because I think the sets and chacacters were not that good...I did work in 3D before, and my eyes don't accept bad quality...and what I saw was not top notch.

I wathed the Avatar trailer in HD quality at the Apple site in full screen and a lot of sound. Still think it's looks pretty good, especially the spaceship in the beginning and the fantasy landscapes. The aliens and animals do look a bit much CGI, I agree, but maybe JD is right and it's intentional.

Even so, I not complaing, but hoping that this this interest in making Sci-Fi films stay on. Moon, Avatar, District 9... anything more I don't know about?
