I liked the TOS phasers too

My other favorite was the Gun from Logan's Run - in the books it had some additional functions not shown in the movie.

Hi Steve, I Love those first season Lost In Space rifles and laser pistols. Way too cool! I never thought the redesigns from the second and third season were near as impressive.
Also, I always found that photo of Maya with the laser rifle to be so A-typical of the series. First, the stance seems so out of character, and second, after all the hard work to create a believeable "Moon's surface", this shot of her standing out there without a Spacesuit just destroys the illusion.

I've got to agree with W8CMP on this one. I have several of the TOS phasers, communicators, and now collecting the tricorders (medical & science).

I love the simple design of the Sandman DS pistols from Logan's Run (TV version with the rounded bottom fin and more angles to the grips).
A close second is the TOS Phaser for me - and then the Babylon 5 PPG.

Sorry, it just has to be the Blade runner pistol for me.

Or the Lawgiver.

In the Star Trek animated series there was a hand held weapon from an ancient extinct race that had different settings with one being a total matter/energy conversion beam that when fired set off an explosion like an H-bomb!

Babylon 5's PPG gets my vote.

I do have a soft spot for both the TOS phaser and 1999's stun gun - and those double-barrelled laser pistols the robots had in Disney's 'Black Hole' were pretty cool too...

Honorable mention to Rollerball's tree-flaming pistol - that thing packed a punch. See it at 1:00 here:

I always thought the PPG was to little and looked like a cigarette lighter.

You could light ONE cigarette with it - and then be cured of smoking (and living) Haha

Good point. It took me a while to come around to liking it. I suppose if the tech only requires that amount of space, why make it bigger? Bruce Boxleitener apparently moaned about the size of the PPG's - 'till they made him a rifle version.
