Default What happens with the truck(s)?????

Hello everyone,

Finally I found a forum about the vehicles and models showed in the Thunderbirds series.

I am a big fan of truck used by Ned Cook and The Hood.
It's also used as an ambulance, terrorist truck.
It's featured (as fare as I know) in

The Mighty Atom:

Terror in New York

Day of Disaster:

Operation Crash-Dive:

2x in Edge of Impact:

and 2x in Alias Mr. Hackenbacker:

Can I anyone tell me more about this truck? Is it transformed into the Radar Van in Captain Scarlet or was it really destroyed by Thunderbird 2 in Alias Mr Hackenbacker?

It is a cool looking vehicle, and would be able to work out some dimensions by other things around it.
I think its scratchbuilt,

I dont think the blast in alias mr hackenbacker would have damaged it, just quickly scorched it. in that shot its sitting next to is a plastic scalextric control tower.

@ Mike. You think you can work it out?

Could it be based on a other truck or is it really custom made?

I always want to have a model of this truck, but I'm Dutch and not so technical as you guys. You all did a great job with those Fire tenders, monorail and the Helijet.

@ Bishop. Thanx

2404E, I'm not entirely convinced it's a 'scratchbuild', so much as a 'kitbash' - the combination of at least two (or more) existing kits to create something new. Take a look at those cars parked at the tunnel entrance: same car, different cabins ...

just measured the amphicar toy it is sitting next to in this shot, the main red base is 2 1/2" high off the ground x 4"wide x 10" long. looks pretty much the same dimensions.

looks like the base of the camera is a square metal tin box lid.

Funny that I'm not the only Dutchman.

I think there 3 or 2 models of this truck. The green one and the blue that will be paint as the white ambulance.

In close-up shots they used a puppet-scale of this truck...unfortunately I don't have screengrabs of those shots.

But I do have more shots of the NTBS-truck

and a close up of it's front

I just notice that this truck is also featured in The Impostors. The HD version probably show more details

Default Trucks....

Hi Guys,

Just curious if we made any progress with this thread. To me it looks like a van with a rear end chop. I am also wondering if the rear end was stuck to the front?

Hello Captain,

Good question, the answer is...No, I'm to busy with my work to recreate this fantastic truck :-( Maybe the summer will give me more time

Hmm... looks to me like 2 rear ends of a pick up kit/toy, put front to front which gives it the long wheelbase look and yes, a rear end from a different vehicle added to the front (the back has it's true rear end added i think)
The profile view from 'edge of impact' shows that without the front door window, screen, rear end part, the vehicle looks pretty symmetrical.

I was told by Mike Trim that the hoverbus which is scratch built was an evolution from the camera bus. Both were designed by Derek Meddings. Even the blue paint appears to be the same.

tot ziens

I've always found this truck interesting, and I hope that we manage to find out what it is/was. I was always under the impression it was wood. I am impressed with the CGI drawings 2404E.
Another point, I was on a uni field trip to Rotterdam last week, lovely city, and nice weather too.

I hope that people have good connections and knowledge for analyze custom made models. For me as a 19 year old Dutch student, I just don't know where to start.
In the United Kingdom there is still a chance that you will find Thunderbirds stuff in the shops, in the Netherlands it exists only in our memories.

I hope in the upcoming months that I can make more of those images (and share it off course.)

Anyway the weather here is terrible now, spring has some delay.

Goodnight all!
