Another
essential part of building resin kits is the wash. Resin kit
parts often come with a greasy 'mould release agent' which, if not
removed, will make life difficult when it comes to painting. Thoroughly
washed parts will allow paint to adhere properly and you will
acheive a much better finish. So, as I didn't want my
paintwork to fall off later, I took time out to wash the kit
properly
Kit
parts ready to wash. All that's required here are a couple of
large bowls, use of a sink, a toothbrush or similar 'soft' brush and
some degreasing agent |
 |
"Orange
Clean" degreasing agent
There are literally dozens of 'tried and tested' products on
the market but this multi-purpose degreaser is cheap and readily
available from high street hardware stores/supermarkets |
 |
| Wet
the kit part then spray some of the product straight onto it. Then
scrub! Spend a good deal of time working the agent well into
the nooks and crannies |
 |
| Have
a bowl filled with luke warm water to hand. Add a small amount
of dish cleaning detergent then pour some of the degreaser into it.
Allow the parts to soak in the solution for an hour or so. Once
the kit has soaked well, either rinse the parts thoroughly in three
or four changes of water or rinse under a tap (faucet!) |
 |
| Finally,
lay your kit out to dry |
