Alpha Moonbase: The Future Is Now!...well, awhile back it was.

Hobb's End

Been a fan since the original airing. Always liked the design aesthetics of the show as they 'made sense'.
Spent some time working in a science museum and worked some Alpha style into some of the exhibits.

Anyway, I found this little item a few years back and immediately thought of Moonbase Alpha.
It is an emergency flashlight to be carried in your car. Roughly 12-14" long. It has a flashlight in the end, a fluorescent light in one side, and red/yellow flashers on the other. What you see is exactly how it was designed and made.
Very well constructed, not a cheap item. It's the only one I've ever seen like it.

Yep, the bottom button turns on the siren and flasher. It has a power adapter port, as well.
All I need is a Bricklin to put it in.

It reminds me of the the flashlight Ron Cobb Designed for ALIEN, which was never built but shows up in the the design drawings.

I had the same flashlight myself (in black) years ago too. I think it came with a Reader's Digest AA Book of the Road, or something similar.

Yes, the datastick! Always loved that design. Looks like it plays 8-track stereo too. :)

That's so you can listen to 'Mister Blue sky" while an alien eats your face.

Now it's time to make up some Moonbase Alpha vinyl decals to dress them up.
Maybe we can get people to start scouting around for these things. Or find other products that fit nicely into the ole' Moonbase aside from the obvious Italian furniture.

What I'd like to know is, where tey got the various carrying cases they used? Also, what specifically was that reflector used as a 'sensor' device?

If I understand you right I think it's an old-style dish reflector for a camera flash unit.

Yes, but was it a PARTICULAR one? Also, As I understand the attached a light meter of a particular brand to it?

The german guy here made one, and was even selling it, but he refused to sell it to me. Curses!
