BBCA and Battlestar Galactica

I was doning a search on the web for info about the BBC of America show of
Battlestar Galactica. I found out that BBCA had paid for all of the show, and this was in a old news release from NBC. it states that some 80 weeks of the show was in the deal.

the worst thing about this Battlestar Galactica. is that it is NOT the older (1970's) one, instad they are showing the "NU" Battlestar Galactica. which is NOT what I like. it's pure junk.

well to me it is trash, for one thing the Battlestar Galactica that plays now , says that man build the cylons. what they have done is just use the same old story line that has been used in so many sci-fy books it's not funny. it's just old trash that the movie makers have used for the last 50 years.

I never got to see the 70s series on TV, only the films (at the cinema) that they made out of a couple of episodes.

Now having the DVDs of the 70s series and never missed an episode of the new one, I have to strongly say that I love them both.

The drama and acting in the new series was fantastic (very seldom did i feel that the shaky camera hindered the story or effect).
James Edward Olmos was, in my mind, the perfect choice to play Adama.

The big question is, which Galactica ship do I prefer?
Answer, easy, the original one every time, nothing wrong with the new one, just not as nice.

Favourite and saddest shot of the new series is in the last episode when the Galactica comes out of FTL at Earth - - - - - and basically falls apart

it is about 1:27 into this clip.

To sum up my feelings, I loved them both for different reasons.

Some of the new show worked, some of it didn't.
For me, the same can be said for both regards effects, models, acting, writing, plot development...
I will say the new show had me hooked regards its mysteries, but the finale was badly executed and left me a little betrayed by it all - regards its build-up and the feeling the writers' had broken their promises.
Then again, nobody mention Galactica 1980.

I struggled to get into the new series at first, but I left it alone, and then tried again a month later and I loved it. The re-imagining really hooked me and I thoroughly enjoyed it all except the ending.

I also loved the original series too, so I don't believe they are mutually exclusive, just give it a chance.

Agree regarding the feeling of betrayal. As for Galactica:1980, I found the original series arrival at Earth a much more exciting storyline potential (unfortunately, unused after "Galactica Discovers Earth" premiere episode).

Today I was looking t the list of shows that would be on BBCA and I found a listing for Battlestar Galactica, I read what the listing had on it, it was for the "NU BSG" and it would be one hour before STNG would show. so I watched it, ( I had already watched the old BSG on disks from Netflix) so for one hour I watched it. to me it was pure junk, all they did was fall back on story lines the writers of syfy books have used sine time forgotten.

BTW, old Galactica 1980. which I have seen via Netflix ever beats the NU BSG.

This is the same pointless argument that TOS and Next Gen Star Trek fans have Old BSG and NU BSG are two different shows , I am a Fan of both shows.

:thumbup:Battlestar Galactica, will be airing on BBC America starting Saturday, June 18. The channel announced, via press release, that it has signed a deal with NBC Universal to acquire the two-part miniseries and Seasons One through Four.

As I watch ch.264 on DirecTV which is BBCA, and they have been showing the nu-BSG for over a YEAR, it's all reruns over here. I don't watch it, I wait for STNG which shows just after the poorly written BSG. Plus I read about how the whole show had been paid for for all the show, that was in a USA magazine.

BTW, about 3 months ago, I had gotten from Netflix all of of the older Battlestar Galactica, and I liked each of the disks. BTW hanging from a cord along the top of my living room, I have 2 of the old Battlestar Galactica models.

I watched the first BSG and I even had NETFLIX send me the disk so I could watch it agin, when it fist came out in 1978, I was able to buy a BSG model and a Basestar model, right now that model hages right over where I set. I was able to buy another BSG model at a yard sale, so now I have 3 basestars and two BSG's, I also have one cylon rader that I found in a store about 3 years ago.
Revell has repoped then and now they sell for $30.00
