Electroluminescent material

Obviously people have incorporated lights and LEDs with and without the use of fibre-optics for some time now, but has anyone ever used EL products? I heard that the thin film products can be cut and shaped...

Has anyone here had any experience of using these things in their models?

So, like a lightable sheet? That would be cool for placing along ceilings inside an Eagle or a space shuttle model...

I used it to light up the rear end of my FM Millennium Falcon. Very nice stuff but not massively bright...

You can cut it to size but don't touch the edges when it's on. You'll get a belt that can smart.

You can power it from a 9v battery - but through an inverter - which kicks up the voltage a bit...

I've never used this stuff myself, but, from another modelling forum
I have learnt that once you know how to wire and power this stuff,
modellers have been known to buy night lights containing the sheet
material at a cost lower than the raw materials.

In fact the night light itself for some contained most of what they
needed with some small alterations and additions.

Just passing the info along.
