Hi Guys

Started filling out the cavity area's today on the Intercepter ,this time ive used expanding foam .

Once dry it can be quickly cut back , and sanded to the contours of the frame work ribs then a thin layer of p38 over the top, ive just started this so i should have the whole model coated by the end of this wk .

Here's more photo's of the frame's going in , next update soon

A picture tells a thousand words....

This is the best kind of thread - this is one which shows us exactly how a project starts. I love these pictures from various angles, and marvel at just how close you can get to the actual shape and lines of the Interceptor with just a few pieces of board.

Please keep us updated with more pictures when you have a moment, Pete.

Kindest regards

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the great feed back .
The last couple of days have been pretty wet and very windy so i didn't get alot done , but this morning i completed the whole top section of the Intercepter body , first i created the canopy cockpit area and then blocked out this area , and then p38 over the top , so basicly i,m now sanding and blending the front of the model to meet the sides of the model , looks the part already even at this point , the canopy pattern itself I'll work on later .

The model is 30 inches long , from the front of the missle , to the rear of the model .

This photo's show a few more frames going in and then expanding foam, followed by p38 car filler , ready for first sanding .

more soon

Hi Guys

The last couple of days ive been working on more filling and sanding the underside front section of the Itercepter, at this stage of the build i,m looking to give the main body the key area's that later on I'll start to read derfine to the finished appearance of the model , i dont mind telling you this is one hell of a model to try and capture the right contours .

This batch of photo's you can see how i.m filling inbetween the frame's of the largest bulk of the main body .

Hi Guys

Finally filled all the area's on the Intercepter and its started to really take shape , ive also started to sand and work on some of the key area's to give me more of a idea what she will look like when the Pattern is finished .

Next wk I'll be adding in the tail covering , also the wings , from that point i can really start to sharpen her lines .

This batch of photo's i'm working on building up the cockpit area , filling out with blocks of foam and p38 , then sanding back .

More soon

Hi guys

Yesterday i managed to build all the cowling for the top section of the Intercepter, the weather again has been a right pain working inbetween the shower's but it was worth it, I'll be working on the wings tomorrow weather
permitting .

This bunch of photo's is the filled and rough sand of the underside large blister's on either side of the Intercepter front section .

Once all the wings are fitted , i can start to work on the models lines etc , also more of the rear section .

other news

The MSV will be back end of this wk from being molded , but that will have to wait as I have a commision build to start next wk one of my 3 ft Stingray
kits
the Intercepter
will also be on halt until ive finished the Stingray and then the MSV , but keep watching this thread as i,m ahead on the Intercepter build and have more photo's etc
all the best and thanks again for the great feed back
best

Beautiful curves.....

.....not easy to reproduce, but what a job you've done so far! And all from those simple bits of MDF again.....

Let's see more of this impressive project Pete.

Kindest regards

Hi Guys
Wk end here again .

All of this wk ive been flat out on a 3 ft Stingray build its one of my own kits , i wouldn't deprive you guys of your wk end fix of Model builds so here's some more of the Intercepter pattern .

In these Photo's i'm forming the curved ends of the lower side skirts of the Main body , also the uderside is now all filled and waiting grade sanding .

You can really make out her lines now , You'll see in later photo's ive taken with the wings on once the final lines are sanded in it will really show of those curves .

More Stingray next wk , and then off to Andercon next wk end see you all up there
best
Pete
