Sail On: Apollo 12's Richard Gordon

:2c: :(

Sad to relate that yet another member of that rarest of fraternities has passed on. Apollo 12 astronaut Richard "Dick" Gordon has died...

He circled the Moon in late 1969 aboard the command module Yankee Clipper, while Charles "Pete" Conrad and Alan Bean made mankind's second successful Moon landing, in their lunar module Intrepid - names chosen by the all-Navy crew themselves.

Of such, are true heroes made...

Another hero that we forgot. We only seem to remember Armstrong and Aldrin these days.

True. Sad news. My favourite episode of the tv series 'From the Earth to the Moon' covers the Apollo 12 mission. It's called 'That's all there is' and it is truly delightful.

That was a great series (two words: Tom Hanks!), and truly recommended!
