Your favorite James Bond

Fav Bond

I also have to put forward Timothy Dalton as my favorite Bond, although I do like them all.

I am a bit confused about the direction the current films are taking. Both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace don't, IMHO, "feel" like Bond films. There's a character named James Bond in them, but there a few if any "Bondisms." I actually feel like I'm watching a Jason Bourne film rather than a Bond film.

Why no Monneypenny? Q? Gadgets? I really don't think that the formula needed to be "tweaked" as it was working fine. Bond is now a former SAS Commando as opposed to a former Royal Navy Commander. WTF?

The new films have done good Box Office, so who am I to say. Perhaps in the next film (which has been delayed due to the sale of MGM/UA) they'll get back to the original formula. There have been rumors that Blofeld and SPECTRE will reappear in the next film, so who knows?

Cheers.

I agree. Quantum of Solace doesn't "feel" like Bond film. They barely used the signature James Bond music score was limited to the closing credits. I was waiting for that 'da-da-da-da...' to be featured throughout, especially during the chase sequences as in all the other Bond films. Quantum of Solace felt like the third act ended abruptly.:-/

I'm getting fed up with Bond now any way. The last two films were good but weren't very Bond as others have already said. I have recently got totally into Matt Helm...

Was Matt Helm the one who had some flying saucer on a flat car? I remember seeing that one a lot when I was young. Favorite Bond? well, I'm not taken with the new and de-proved Bond. It is yet another thing re-imagined that did not need it. Though I've seen it 100 times, and know all the shortfalls, I still love Moonraker. Goldeneye was good also, and a fine tribute to Derek Meddings amazing career. Give me a bond with action, gadgets, and some spaceships.

Matt Helm I forgot all about Deano Bond. I do remember though, and it's a bit weird, if my memory is correct in one of the MH films I remember seeing a powerlifter like in Aliens. It was MH or Flint I can't remember which.

Your right it was The Ambushers.

Check out Starship Troopers 3: Marauder for the exoskeleton Armor Suits from Heinlein's book. Was the Brewery in the Matt Helm film the same one they used in Star Trek 09 for Engineering?:D

Cheers.

BTW, this device is a Hardiman, built by GE, not something from the Studio Art Department. It never proceeded past the prototype stage, required a large room filled with hydraulics to power it, and apparently had serious design flaws that could result in injury to the operator.

Thought i'd post this here - Zavvi have the James Bond Ultimate DVD Boxset at £39.99 right now (Monday only) - 2 disc versions for the first 21 films (up to & inc Casino Royale) - 42 discs.

I've got all the Ulimate Editions anyway, but the set at this price is a steal ...

Favourite Bond is Sean Connery because he played bond at the best time for Bond (the height of the cold war) and because he captured the character so well.

followed by Roger Moore he was the first I watched at the movie´s but I like his early Bonds more than the later ones with the Gadgets.

George Lazenby I liked, he was a rough diamond that with polish would have made a better bond than possibly the others. "perhaps?"

the others I can do without esp Daniel Craig. great actor but not right for bond

Sean Connery most definitely is the best James Bond.
Pierce Brosnan next.
Don't like the current actor playing James Bond, he just doesn't have the look to me for James Bond.
Roger Moore was also very good as James Bond.

Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace just didn't have the Bond feel to them. And where was the theme music? Moneypenny and Q and those gadgets and of course M are what completed the formula and a good villain like Blofeld or Dr. No and of course those chases and Bond mixing it up with the ladies and his wicked sense of humor.

Hope they go back to original formula too. That always worked. I can hear the classic Bond theme now. "da da da da da!" ;)

Got to get that myself. The other evening I was watching Goldfinger. That was so much fun.

Goldfinger bar none is the best.

The best Bond (type) film I've seen in ages is Cars 2! Do not care for the reboot, which is the typical "Make it more realistic" junk that sucks any fun out of seeing something re-imagined. I'll take Moonraker, thank you...warts and all...with Derek Meddings fantastic work. Goldfinger and Goldeneye are also great Bond films, and an honorable mention goes to You Only Live Twice.
