This is sad news but we have to realize that the condition might not be a fast downward slope so I'm sure he'll be about for a while yet!

There have also been considerable breakthroughs in Alzheimer's medication in the last twenty years or so. However, it is a condition I wouldn't wish on anybody. My Nan died from it. It puts an enormous strain on the family as a whole, and it's also very difficult for the sufferer, who can go through extremely lucid periods, then lapse back.
I wish Gerry well, and his family the strength to see this through. |

Well, we do have to come to the realization that Gerry is a pretty old person and he has less years in front of him than behind him. All things considered, he is rather lucky that he has lived as long as he has without the disease before seeing the warning signs manifest themselves. I've known people who have contracted it much earlier in life.
As the Beatles song says though He'll get by with a little help from his friends. |

Very sad indeed
I suspected for a while that all was not well with Gerry as the last time I saw him, he seemed very frail indeed. Yes he is in his eighties, but I think for a very long time he didn't seem his age. With many people like this, be they famous or not, we seem to notice more when they suddenly seem to age. Where as with the vast majority of the populas, we age quicker Best wishes to the Anderson family |

This is such sad news... he's the reason we are here on this forum.
I wish conditions like this were eradicated, so people wouldn't have to suffer from it. All my wishes are with Gerry and his family & friends. |

Wishing Gerry and his family all the best.
My mother is a sufferer and there can be good days and bad days and it can be hard to take but you have to rely on the family. |

I had an aunt who was a special close member of the family who caught
Alzheimer's and passed away from it a couple of years ago. I can understand all too well what's it's like to lose a member of the family to it. |

Very saddened by this news!
I've been amazed over the last few years at Gerry's drive & vitality ... in his 80s & still working away - involved in producing new series' of Captain Scarlet & Thunderbirds. I do hope that the progress of his illness is slow & that there are developments in treatment that can help. Not least with the stress & anxiety that inevitably comes with such a diagnosis. Like everyone here - I'm rooting for you Gerry! |

I was in another forum and had just read about an actor's passing.
I was overtired when I posted here. My sincerest apologies to the members here for the error in my post in this thread. My best wishes go out to Gerry Anderson and his family. Last edited by starshine; 11-07-2012 at 02:48 PM. |
