Great images Mike ! Thanks for posting !

Sadly I don't have the 21st century Visions book so I haven't seen the pictures you mention. I keep looking for it and indeed there is one on Amazon right now but it commands prices well over 150 these days. I'll keep checking Ebay..I may get lucky one day.

2 of cloudbases's engines can be seen in the centre of this shot in Expo2068

Do you have a scanner Mike ? Would be cool to have electronic copies of those particular pics.

Mike that's really odd ! This episode was recorded prior to "Attack on Cloudbase" so I wonder how the hell the engines ended up as part of this set ? I originally thought they were just the same part used on Cloudbase but if you look carefully you can actually see the yellow stripe going around the top in exactly the same place! And they appear to be painted in the same colour!

This just makes no sense as I can't see them ripping parts off an existing main prop when they know they are going to need it further !

just to re-iterate - I don't think the model blown up in Attack on Cloudbase is the big one

to me it just doesn't look like the same shape - have a look in this thread at the the screen-grabs

any thoughts anyone..?

I agree, I think its a smaller version, and I also think the one the angel lands on is a mock up, I dont think its filmed on the large model.

Looking at the top view of Cloudbase, a detail struck me; there is a door to the extreme left of the picture. Bearing in mind that most british doorways are around 6'6", even allowing for the model being slanted away from the vertical and some way in front of the door, I reckon that the model has got to be something like 9- 10 feet across by approximately 12 feet long

Well as far as I know there was only ever one model of Cloudbase...but I stand to be corrected on that ! It certainly looks like a smaller version in those screen grabs with the Mysteron saucers! Maybe the large scale model was dismantled after all of the stock footage of Cloudbase was in the can, and the smaller model utilised for the destruction scenes. Seems very plausible.
Did they know at this point that there would not be a second series commisoned? If they knew that was the case then there would have been no need to keep the larger model.

I calculated about 8.5 foot long based on the known part (the airfix girder).

I think two of the close ups show the view from the rear of the command center and the other two from the front. Is that what you mean ?

just a thought on the expo2068 shot, if the engines where removable, probably screwed, they may have left the engines off as the model was so big, then as they where putting that shot together they may have just had those engines on a shelf and said theyll do there, just make sure they go back after the shot had been done
