Default How big is a UFO from UFO suspossed to be?

Hi,

The title pretty much says it all. Just wondering if the size of an alien spacecraft from UFO was determined with any certainty?

Thanks,

Art

I heard it guesstimated, but remember where (here I think) that the interior as scaled to the Mobiles is barely as big as a Gemini capsule. In other words yet again the set doesn't come within a bull's roar of the exterior

The best scene for getting a sense of scale is in the episode ESP where one crashes into Croxley's house.

Don't forget 'Reflections in the Water' where Straker and Foster find Circular scorch marks in the Undersea Dome, evidently caused by a UFO. From those, I reckon we're looking at a contact diameter of something like 20 feet or so

The scene JD mentioned where a UFO overflies the studio miniature of Straker's car is this one and I think it's the best one that hints at a UFO's approximate size/scale. The diameter of the UFO doesn't seem to be too much larger than the length of the vehicle below it.

good picture grab there Eurosector. you seem to have hit the nail on the head here. it does look pretty much the same length as strakers car. regarding the studio models i thought they only used 2 scales
cheers Paul

That's where we get the Gemini capsule size for the pilots to fit in. No room for the extras we see in various eps.... unless they have Tardis capabilities.

That photo's just crying out for some captions.

'Attack of the 50ft Construction Workers'

'Dr Jackson's new serum had strange side-effects - but Straker saw a silver lining.'

Alien: 'Boss, we've made a mistake - no way are we gonna be able to transplant organs from these people!'

Whilst we're on the subject; What parts, apart from the domes are tansparent. The Phil Rae drawings show all the vanes to be transparent but photos tend to be ambiguous. Can anyone help?

TIA

Lighthearted, obviously - but too small. The UFO that is.

If too small,...then not by much.
Not compared to the pic of it flying over the car.

Certainly not big enough to contain a "escape pod".
Like in that one episode.

Perhaps there were more than one size of UFOs, just like there were different sized models.
Some small one or two man (alien), and some larger ones.
Perhaps their technology is directly scalable. They dont seem to operate with known aerodynamic limitations.

So, does anyone make a 6" or so diameter kit of the UFO?

Failing that, are there accurate drawings from which a model could be made?

Thanks for all replies.

I figure the size of the UFO about the size of a very large house.

Is the kit very accurate to the original studio model?

Correct me if I am mistaken,I figure that with the weapons, the interior of the saucer, plus
the escape pod it contains.I feel that it makes sense that the UFO is as big as a very large
house in diameter.

Correct me if I am mistaken,I thought that the 3 models of the UFO itself used
in the series were made at 3 particular scales.Such as,the 6"in saucer is the
1/72-1/76 scale,the 9"in-10"in saucer is the 1/48 scale and the 21"in model
of the saucer is actually the 1/24th scale versions.

Prove me if I am mistaken about that.
