We've just had in the Airfix "Manhatten" kit,so went and bought one today-
First impressions are ..well theres a lot of it! Heads are preassembled but unpainted, which will be fun with the lights and eyestalks already glued on due to electronics within. Guns will need replacing with tube and nickel wire, whilst plunger arms are not telescopic unlike the old Comet kit. Oddly whilst Sec is moulded in shiney black,Caan is a flesh/salmon pink colour.... Nevertheless daleks 9 and 10 with soon take their rightful place in my growing army.. |

I have seen pictures of the unpainted Daleks kit. Good panelling and parts but looks like too much hard work!

I might need to be ordering one of those Dalek kits myself, mind you I have not done anything with my Welcome on Board kits yet though.

Nice photos of the kit.
I couldn't help but notice the background wall. Are they playing "Blockbusters"? Doing the "Gold run" maybe? "Can-I-have-a-p-please-Bob?" Sorry. I'll shut up now. |

While packing stuff to move I found two Comet Miniatures Dalek kits, a Mk1 television kit and a Mk3 movie kit. I'm sure I've seen some of these with lights inserted into them.
Anyone able to advise on how I could do this? |

I got a Dalek in Manhatten kit earlier today, my mate went to the trade warhouse he uses to get his order of limited edition Airfix 1/48th TSR 2 kits and phoned me in the workshop asking if I wanted one bringing back, £18 inc VAT, now at that price I can live with the bits on the kits that need correcting.

I’ve started work on a Daleks in Manhattan kit. Here are some progress pictures.
http://www.tobor2.com/airfixdalek/airfixdalek.htm I was expecting so much after the Welcome aboard kit, that I was a little disappointed with this one. I can’t understand how they got some of the detail wrong. Like the side of the gun and arm boxes. Saying that, I’m still really pleased this kit is out, and I’ve got two of them. (£25 each from forbidden planet In London). |

Apart from that and the filling on the side of the arm boxes, where there any other mods you did? Many thanks in advance! |

Looks like a pretty good kit , especially for the price . I hope AIRFIX turn a profit with this one , as it would mean they could expand this , and other lines in the future . Come on , we should all buy this kit and support a Great British institution ! ( O.k , I've had a couple glasses of red , but you get my point!).

The side of the gun and arm boxes are basically flat on the kit. So I modified them by making a cut out and backing it with plastic sheet. The arm is much too short, so made a new one from aluminium tube.
I used 5/32” tube then 1/8” inside that. I used the sucker part of the arm from the kit, which fitted inside the 1/8” tube. The gun was made from 5/32” and 1/8” tube for the thicker bits and 2mm tube for the small diameter bit in the middle. This was a bit of a loose fit, but I just used what I had available. The rods were just the ends of some resisters I had. These are the only mods I’ve made. The centre slat at the front and the cutout below it are too narrow. But these are too tricky to fix, so I’m just going to leave them. I agree that we should all buy this kit, then maybe airfix will bring out some cyberman kits. |
