Oh yeah ! Its a common mistake that people say when you mention Star Fleet - "oh yeah, thats the show Brian May wrote the song for." In fact, at the behest of his young son who was watching the show at the time, he re-recorded a version on a mini-lp called Star Fleet. Not very good. And the other three tracks had no connection to the series. Besides, the original theme was much better. Loved it.

I've heard of this because I think it might have been mentioned around here in a Utube link, but I don't know if we ever got it in AU. And I thought you were talking about something from Star Trek. I wonder how these guys got away with using the name?

This has been on my rental list for months now (it was supposed to be out at the start of September).

If it still ticks my boxes then i will defiantly buy it

I just hope it's all the separate episodes and not a compilation type thing.

Wow. That's cool. I'm very familiar with X Bomber, but I wasn't aware that it had been translated in to English for UK audiences. It was created by manga artist Go Nagai who is responsible for such classics as Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, and UFO Robo Grendizer. Starfleet is an interesting choice for the title though. I wonder why they didn't keep the original title.

Ah my college days - I definately have great memories of this series and got the theme single (on 45rpm vinyl!! ) and had to get a second one for a mate at college - picked up a video last year from Ebay but it was a compilation so lost out on the majority of the story so hope this is a box set

Anyone else bought this. I got my copy last weekend and I'm just over half way through it. Its pretty good so far, always fun to watch pure model work with the faults clearly visible. Just watched a couple of naff filler episodes with 90% repeated footage which gives the impression that they ran out of story, or money, for a bit but if memory serves it picks up for the last half of the series. The film quality was never the best anyway so I was not expecting too much but this DVD has been put together really well, good picture and very good sound - I think I will be buying the CD too. Gerry appears briefly in the documentary.

Yes I've got it, but I've not started to watch it yet.

Always was a favourite with me. Barry Hercules with that chin always had us cracking up.

I've also got the 'Project Star Fleet' record by Brian May & co - it's excellent!

What were they thinking about with that chin!

I was quite surprised by the size of some of the models, the X-Bomber was really pretty big.
