Default SPACE 1999 ALTERNATE THEMES & COVERS

http://www.space1999.net/moonbase99/mp3related.htm

Have just downloaded to disk the huge list of Space 1999 alternate themes and covers from the above link - great listening.

Especially love the Space 1999 Alpha mix, done in house music style with various sampling of phrases - such as Helena saying 'It's ingenious,' followed by Victor saying 'It's insane' followed by Koenig saying 'It's a long shot' - very clever mix

There's a version of the first season theme on iTunes by a group called Pressure Cooker that's probably my favourite 1999 cover. Well worth 79p of any fan's money.

Shame the opening and closing themes from Alien Attack on that site are just recorded from the film itself though - I found the full-length version of the closing theme (Disco Dynamite) online a couple weeks back, but I'm still hunting for a decent version of the opening (Giants Causeway)...

The Alpha mix thing is from the POWER THEMES compilation. It is almost 20 years old. Is this still new to people?

There's also a very strange version by 'Ambassadors of Om', which uses a sample from the actual theme tune (the bit where the Eagle spirals down to its doom just before the 'this episode' sequence) as well as random lines of dialogue from the show which have been re-recorded by other people...

There's a fairly dreadful version on an MFP album of Sci Fi themes by the Geoff Love orchestra.

Excellent album, played it to death!

"Joe 90, World Inteligence, I want to help you...(repeat)"

Speaking of which, I started watching the 'Alien Attack' video over the weekend - love the way that in the opening credits the word 'ATTACK' very very gradually forms on the screen from nothing (hey - didn't the film 'Alien' do that also ), and then the opening credits sort of finish before the whole of the word 'ATTACK' has had a chance to fully form on the screen (let alone any of the word 'ALIEN' - that word hadn't even started to form), and so the screen ever so suddenly just changes to 'ALIEN ATTACK' in full, just as the credits end

Maybe the person who designed the gradual formation from nothing of the title 'ALIEN ATTACK' (which, by the way, I really do think looks great as it gradually forms on screen - kind of like a teaser) hadn't been informed that the opening music credit was not that long.

Has anyone ever managed to get hold of a 'clean' copy of the opening title music to Destination Moonbase Alpha, by Mike Vikkers?
